TÜV Süd

Systematic collection of user requirements for end devices used by inspectors

tuev

With more than 17,000 employees at 800 locations, TÜV SÜD is one of the leading technical service companies worldwide. In the mobility segment, more than 3,000 TÜV SÜD experts perform main inspections and exhaust gas tests for vehicles in Bavaria, Baden-Württemberg, Hesse, Saxony and Hamburg.

TÜV SÜD plans to introduce new mobile terminals for the inspectors at all German sites to make the main inspection even more customer-friendly and efficient.

To develop a reliable decision basis for the selection of the ideal hardware, Facit Digital has conducted a systematic survey of the requirements of the future users of the hardware.

Goals:

  • Ensuring efficient and error-free operation during daily inspections
  • Taking into account the special requirements at the test centres (narrow spaces in the pit, under the car lift and in the vehicle, dirt on the vehicles, changing lighting conditions, weather outside, small storage areas)
  • Minimising training and support efforts and expenditure, minimising repair costs

For the analysis, we conducted interviews with 16 representative inspectors over several hours. To make the range of possible properties of end devices tangible, the interviewees were given different prototypes with simulated software. In a defined test sequence, the inspectors could try them out and thus come to a valid opinion.

Thanks to the professional and effective work of Facit Digital, we now know exactly the requirements to be met by the new mobile end devices for our test centres.
